Akureyri, Iceland - Rúntur translated literally from Icelandic means "round tour" and can be used to describe several things including doing a pub crawl or the peculiar Icelandic custom of driving in circles at night. It's similar to cruising in the US where young people will drive a strip to show off their cars and meet members of the opposite sex. In Iceland however, you will see everyone in town from families in mini-vans to teens in sports cars and it can happen in the middle of the week as well as on weekends. In Akureyri as pictured here, this form of socializing involves driving in circles around a small block in downtown, sometimes for hours.
