Tell someone who has never been to Cuba that you are headed there and they will often wrinkle their face, ask why, and become concerned for your safety. Tell someone who has been there and their face will immediately light up and excitedly tell you how it is one of their favorite places in the world. The reality of Cuba is that despite the poverty and unfortunate politics, the country is safe, uniquely beautiful, and home to some of the friendliest and most charming people you will ever meet.
To have been there was a rare experience that offered me a vastly different perspective on life from what I've developed living in the United States. With these pictures, I've barely scratched the surface of what Cuba is but I hope they reveal another side to a country that many have not had a chance to see.
