The sedatives were for Lucas to lie asleep and still during his scans. Later on, Lucas would amaze the doctors by being able to lie perfectly still without sedatives for up to 45 minutes at a time while they scanned him.
A fund has been created to keep Lucas' spirit alive. Donations will be used to support children's medical treatment in honor of Lucas.
